Tight Access Tree Removal: How We Fit Big Cranes in Small Spots

Tree Removal

When a massive tree becomes a hazard, you usually need massive equipment to remove it safely. But what happens when that tree is squeezed between a fence, a neighbor’s house, and a pool? For many homeowners in Orlando, this feels like an impossible situation.

The biggest fear isn’t just the tree falling; it’s the belief that you can’t get the necessary heavy machinery into your backyard without destroying your property.

In this project, we encountered exactly this scenario: a hazardous Oak tree in beautiful Orlando that was just out of reach.

The Challenge: The Crane Couldn’t Reach

To safely remove a large, hazardous oak, a crane is often the best tool. It lifts heavy sections of wood up and over obstacles, protecting your lawn and home from falling debris.

However, in this specific job, the crane simply couldn’t get close enough to the tree due to the property’s perimeter fence. The boom reach fell short, and the layout seemed to block any safe setup.

Most companies might look at this situation and say it can’t be done, or they might resort to riskier manual methods. At McCullough Tree Service, we look for the solution that gets the right equipment in the right place.

The Solution: Strategic Fence Modification

Instead of abandoning the best tool for the job, we adapted the environment. As I mentioned in the video, we made some “subtle modifications” to the fencing to create the space we needed.

  1. Strategic Fence Removal: My team, including Nick and Ty, carefully uninstalled specific fence panels to create a temporary gateway.
  2. Backing In the Heavy Iron: With the fence out of the way, we were able to back our large crane truck right up to the property line—literally inches from the remaining posts.
  3. Zero Yard Damage: This modification allowed us to position the crane stabilizers safely without tearing up the client’s yard or the neighbor’s property.

As you can see from the results, we got the crane exactly where it needed to be to safely lift that oak tree out.

We Don’t Let “Tight Spots” Stop Us

If you have trees in a tight spot that need to come down, you might worry that your yard is inaccessible. You might think, “There’s no way a truck fits back there.”

That is where we come in. We specialize in tight access tree removal. Whether it means removing a fence panel, laying down protective mats, or threading a crane boom through a narrow gap, we find a way to get the job done safely.
