McCullough Tree Service handles tree-pruning services and gives pruning estimates all over Central Florida. Did you know that there are different degrees of pruning? Some are more complicated, others are more trimmed-down in scale.
Some trees have a few different issues going on, and all need consideration in forming a final strategy before pruning begins.
What’s important to remember is that pruning is not only a task for general tree maintenance. Our clients rely on us to prune back trees at their homes or businesses for a variety of reasons.
When you hire a company to trim back the trees on your property, it helps to let your expert tree technician know what you are trying to achieve. The crew can then set goals, plan strategy and carefully consider factors that will vary from area to area, site to site, such as the age of the trees, the species, where they are located, etc. Your information helps them to do the best job possible.
These objectives trickle down, and influence other decisions in the pruning process. Setting up a tree service with as much information as possible better prepares it to deliver A+ results!
Here are eight areas pruning can address:
- Reducing risk. This would be a case of tree rot, disease or decay that could cause a limb to fall and cause injury or damage, or limbs that are rubbing up against each other, weakening the tree itself.
- Structural improvements. Pruning in a way that allows for better spacing of the branches (let’s face it, crowded trees aren’t happy trees).
- Restoration pruning. This is when we prune trees to restore a view, sight line, or direct them to grow in a way that won’t interfere with things like utility lines.
- To manage size/shape. Some property owners like their trees more to scale with other features of their land or would like a tree smaller to allow more sunshine in.
- Regenerative pruning. Tree technicians will prune back old wood to make way for new shoots, bringing energy to new parts of the tree.
- To improve aesthetics. This is a kind of tree pruning that elevates a tree’s visual appeal; regular maintenance is best to keep your trees looking great.
- To manage production. Fruit trees and floral trees can benefit from selective pruning to create more fruit or blooms in less time.
- To manage wildlife. Maybe a National Park wants more-than-normal canopy or tree cover to protect a birds’ nest from predators. Or you have a habitat in a backyard tree you are looking to keep intact. In that case, we’d leave more canopy coverage with that consideration in mind.
